The Logistics that Make an Awesome Wedding Film Happen
When couples book with Steed Films, typically many are unfamiliar with the logistics that make an awesome wedding film happen. Things like music licensing and audio recordings are not typically the things that go through a couple's mind. Of course, no one is to blame––not everyone is a wedding filmmaker! In order to make wedding day as smooth as possible for you, I've provided below some important pointers to make note of, so that you and I are both on the same page.
Although I would love to use some of the most popular music in your wedding film, licensing those songs is incredibly costly and not viable. However, every song you will hear in any wedding film I produce is licensed from musicbed.com, a site with an extensive selection of great music to choose from with license fees that won’t break the bank. If you happen to find a song on that site that you would like in your film (and there are literally TONS), please let me know as soon as possible, and I can be sure to include it!
I love to include lots of natural sounds in these videos, such as laughter, visiting, and applause. However, when outside music is turned up all the way, it renders my ability to incorporate these soundbites impossible. To prevent this, if music could be turned down (or all the way off) if we’re shooting in a small room, I will be able to use those soundbites.
During the wedding reception, I love to be able to plug an audio recorder into the DJ’s sound board to capture the speeches. Having the DJ’s contact information weeks out from the wedding is very helpful as it will allow the me and the DJ to prepare to work well together.
Weddings are amazing... and wedding guests love to savor all the memories as well! Unfortunately, when guests are using their phones or cameras to take photos and videos during the ceremony, it disrupts the workflow of both my team and the photographer’s. Something as simple as asking your wedding guests to not use their phones (or turn them off completely) during the ceremony will allow us to capture those once-in-a-lifetime moments.
Sometimes wedding venues (especially churches) will have certain rules as to what photographers and videographers can and cannot do. While you won’t ever see me getting in the way of your ceremony, many times I am limited in where I can walk and position my camera due to the venue rules. While this is not always the case in every wedding, I do my best to work around those rules.
I love to reach out to your wedding coordinator weeks in advance of wedding day. This allows me to take a look at their timeline and schedule the creative sessions—when it’s just you, me and the two of you—so that I don’t conflict with anyone else’s priorities!

All of my wedding films are turned around in thirty days or less. When your film is ready, you'll receive an email from me letting you know that the film is finished, and we'll then set up a time for the grand reveal!
Payments made to Steed Films are handled through Square. I’ll email you an invoice for each payment, with reminders set up so that you never miss a due date! A $600 retainer fee is due upon signing the contract, and the final balance (minus the retainer) is due upon final delivery.
